Based out of Ames, Andy Juhl and the Bluestem Players pop up in Eastern Iowa at The Ideal Theater & Bar on Friday, October 23. Juhl's music moves through effect-driven guitar, synthesized textures, heartfelt melodies, and the occasional time-signature turn that catches the ear before the mind can count it. The Bluestem Players bring that vision to life as a full band, opening the songs into something immersive, exploratory, and made for a close room.
Their newest release, The Ice Cave EP, arrived in March 2026, adding another long-form chapter to a catalog nearly two decades deep. Now the 130 miles between Ames and Cedar Rapids close for a night.
