That format is the whole charge: comics get pulled into the light, judged in real time, and asked to be funny before the room decides what kind of night it is going to become. It is the closest thing Cedar Rapids gets this week to a true full-room event. Dress like you meant to be out, get there early, and let the crowd do part of the work.
